Ray Manzarek & Roy Rogers in concert!

February 7, 2013 in Uncategorized

manzarek-rogers bandRay Manzarek “One of the most influential keyboard players in the history of rock music.” – Zune Music

Roy Rogers “Pundits who bemoan the scarcity of guitar gods haven’t laid ears on Roy Rogers, whose slide riffs could peel a crawfish.” USA Today Manzarek Rogers Band

Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers have formed a new four piece ensemble and recorded a hard driving blues/rock project that is a stirring and masterful collaboration. The iconic co-founder of The Doors and the master slide guitarist/producer are seemingly an odd pairing – but their new recording unleashes a stunning musical recording.

Manzarek-Rogers Band: Americana music magazine No Depression wrote of
the CD, “The two artists are true masters of their craft and they are at their absolute
best here,” while the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said, “You can hear echoes of The Doors,
traces of blues, flashes of jazz and touches of rock. It’s hard to put into words the
magical music world they’ve created here, but it works.”

The Manzarek-Rogers Band is coming to the Irish Rose on February 7th – tickets are $35 onsite, or you can buy them online through Lazarbear

Derek Warfield is an old hand in the Irish music business – he was a founding member of the original Wolf Tones (1963-2001) and has performed solo to pass on the musical tradition of Ireland to the Irish of America. The Young Wolf Tones are the newest venture by this legend – a gathering of young musicians to carry on the legacy of the old Wolfe Tones. They’ve performed in hundreds of concerts in six different countries since their creation in 2009.  Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones are known worldwide for their Irish patriotic ‘rebel songs’ and other traditional tunes. Derek is acknowledged by many in the business as an excellent front man whose introductions help modern audiences to understand the tone and meaning of many an old ballad.

This month they’ll be coming to Oahu for two shows. On January 23rd, they’ll be playing an all-ages show at Anna O’Briens – James McCarthy will be the opening act.  Proceeds from this show will go toward Honolulu’s 46th Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.  Attendees under 18 can come in free!

On Thursday, January 24th, Derek and the Young Wolfe Tones will be playing at the Irish Rose Saloon, in a show only open to those 21 or older. Following the Young Wolfe Tones will be local Irish band The Doolin Rakes, who will carry the torch til 1:30 am.

Event sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey and Killian’s Irish Red Ale – served at $4.00.

General Admisson $20, Military and Student $15.
Tickets can be purchased online at or from the Irish Rose Saloon, Kelley O’Neil’s, O’Toole’s or Anna O’Brien’s.

There’s no better venue to see this legend than in the atmosphere of an Irish Pub.  Be prepared for a great mix of traditional Irish tunes and storytelling!
